Get-Together Canceled

After an overwhelming outpouring of interest, enthusiasm and support from hundreds of Maryland, Virginia and district brass players, and in consultation with the fire marshal and local police officials, it has been determined that tonight's gathering, ne rehearsal, must be abandoned as a menace to public health, safety and sanity. Even now beverage and food service contracts are being revoked and traffic safety volunteers are being sent home to enjoy a quiet evening in their own particular form of solitude.

[Translation: no one seems really interested in practicing tonight, so let's call it off.]

Get together this week‽

Hello fellow musicians,

I'd like to play this Thursday. What would you like?

Rehearsal Report

As it turns out, Danny Hall had something else come up at the last minute, so Troy, Jamey and I met for a little over an hour. We did a lot of good reading, but avoided the Canzonas this week. We agreed to skip next week (June 17), but we'll try to get together again June 24.

It would be great to have more players. Post here or send an e-mail if you can help us out.

Lip Time for This Week

It looks like Dave will be in Cupertino this Thursday, (good luck, Dave, I hope your presentation goes very well) but we could get together and play anyway, if you wish. Following Troy's suggestion, we could spend about 45 minutes reading new music and about 45 minutes rehearsing what's currently in our folders. Let's plan to start around 7:45 in the CUC band room, if we can get in.

What is your pleasure? Would you like to play this week?

Shall we get together Thursday?

I heard from Danny Hall, who's expecting to be ready to play this week. I'm game. Do we have enough for a quintet?

Backing Out of Rehearsal Tonight

I've come down with a sore throat and low fever, and I feel it would be polite to avoid passing it along to you this evening.

I have heard from four out of five trumpets that they will stick to a Workman-only rehearsal schedule, so I suggest that the rest of us should do the same. This seems like something of a switch: Just three weeks ago we had four trumpets who wanted to keep playing every week throughout the summer. Was it something I said?

Anyway, the expected players for tonight include Troy and Earl, with no word from Danny Hall.

If we want to keep going in between Dave's scheduled rehearsals, I'm game. I've got a little quartet music, and I can fill in second trumpet like I did last week. But not tonight.

Also, would someone with Earl and Troy's telephone numbers make sure they call each other before tonight?
